CaucusRoom Overview
Connecting conservatives locally(Note: CaucusRoom.com is still in early development. Some of the functions described below are not yet online, but are anticipated as future updates to the site.)
Background: The Caucus
Every election year, usually in the first week of March, Republican neighbors gather in “Caucus states” like Colorado, Iowa and Wyoming to discuss the upcoming elections, elect representatives to nominating assemblies, and sign up to volunteer or contribute towards their local candidates and causes. For candidates and activists, the caucus is an organized and accessible entry point to make their mark on local, state and national politics. CaucusRoom is designed to enhance that experience, and make it available in neighborhoods year round, whether you live in a caucus state or not.
A Republic, If We Can Keep It
Too many social media sites believe they can operate like “benevolent dictatorships” without negative consequences to the “citizens” of their site. It never works.
What if a bunch of freedom-loving people started a new community “Of the People, By the People, For the People”? What if we wrote a Constitution that establishes certain roles— and important limits— for the governance of that community? It just might work! Check out our draft “CaucusRoom Constitution” and let us know what you think.
You are not alone.
Did you know there are many conservatives in your neighborhood? It’s easy, after spending time on many social media platforms, to feel alone. But the truth is, there are people who believe in rugged individualism, limited government and free enterprise living in every neighborhood in this country. CaucusRoom is a place for those people to find each other and make a difference.
Elected Representatives
CaucusRoom will be an online community with its own elected representative council to advise the company on community rules, membership issues and other important governance questions. Our goal is for Caucus Room L.L.C. to operate something like a city government, where employees build infrastructure, facilitate community events and police the streets of CaucusRoom.com. Elected CaucusRoom Council Representatives will serve much like a City Council. Council members will be elected by region and meet on a periodic basis to amend the “Member Rules” and adjudicate tough membership questions. You can read more about our vision for the CaucusRoom Council by reading our draft “CaucusRoom Constitution”.
Membership
CaucusRoom Membership is open to people who will be a constructive member of our community and generally support our Community Values. To learn more about how membership works, please review our Membership Page and the CaucusRoom Constitution. Questions about the Community Values? We want your input!
Posting information, comments and feedback
Members are encouraged to post information for other members to see, to form and join groups, to host events and to get involved in activities organized on the site.
In all questions about Membership and Commenting, there will be an appeals process for the CaucusRoom Council to adjudicate disciplinary actions.
